Putting the pieces together

Very brief post today to say take some reflective time to review the goals that you have already accomplished during 2007. I mean it...it is so easy to overlook what you have accomplished when you are chinking slowly away at a really big undertaking. Get out the map and notice what's already been conquered before you start out for the next milestone.

You may surprise yourself at all that you have actually gotten accomplished. For real.

You may remember that the hindsight view at what you thought was going to be a deal breaker or roadblock turned out not to be because.........

You may wish to remember some of the "DOH!" moments that you don't want to repeat in the coming push ahead to the milestone you have your sights set on now.

It could be time to adjust some of those thoughts on the big milestones based on your experiences of this year now that you are _______ and wiser (let's skip that one and just say savvier!)

It's a great excuse to feel good about the stuff you need to pat yourself on the back for before you dig in for another push ahead......

Notice who helped you along this part of the journey and remember that they want to help you succeed. Drop them a note wishing them all the best for the New Year and thank them for helping you. (They may be super resources for the future. Never forget to network!)

Also, take the time to write out what you want to remember from 2007 to use to accomplish for 2008 and the near future. That way, when you are clever enough to engage in this activity one year from now, you can look back again at what you noted and why it worked or didn't, and appreciate all you really have risen to challenge for. (ok - you know what i'm saying, right? :-)

Me:

sent one kid to college (yee haw!)
sent same kid back when she didn't want to go....(fill in the blanks here)
still haven't cleared the hurdle of preparing for and taking GRE for grad school - but this is the year - Amanda Zimmerman are you with me?
you get the idea......

Many happy returns! Whatever that means!

Share your ideas with us!
